Introducing the Skycatcher – an all-new Cessna destined to bring your personal dreams well within reach. With extreme flyability. Unprecedented affordability. And the very latest technology.
This extraordinary new aircraft strikes a perfect balance of efficient innovations, state-of-the-art technology and classic good looks. From its Cessna high-wing design and aluminum exterior to its modern styling, the Skycatcher embodies everything you've come to love about Cessna's traditional single engine aircraft and so much more.
Features
The model 162 has two-seat capacity including the pilot. Suitable allowance for luggage is provided aft of the seats. A left hand and right hand door allow access for the pilot and passenger.
The main landing gear uses high-strength, tapered steel tubes to provide the necessary shock absorption for a smooth landing, time after time.
Control sticks are well known to be simpler, lighter, and more fun to fly than traditional control yokes. With dual control sticks for complete control and the G300 glass cockpit for total, at-a-glance situational awareness, the Skycatcher combines the exhilaration of flight with the peace of mind you expect from a Cessna.
The optional second right-side G300 multifunction display provides exceptional terrain awareness and XM radio capability.

Powerplant
The Teledyne Continental Motors O-200D engine is an air-cooled, horizontally opposed, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated direct drive engine. It produces a maximum of 100 brake horsepower at 2,800 rpm.
Saftey
Cessna’s determined efforts to improve the safety of there aircraft can benefit our customers in a variety of ways, not the least of which are favorable insurance premiums and low costs of ownership. But perhaps the biggest payoff is the confidence and comfort level that you as a Cessna pilot will rightly feel when you take to the skies. Whether it's a hop around the patch with one of your kids, a weekend away with your spouse, or a fly-in breakfast at a nearby airstrip, Cessna's 80-plus year legacy of safety is with you all the way.
The FAA has defined light-sport aircraft as simple-to-operate and easy-to-fly. That’s been Cessna’s mantra since the very beginning. You can rest assured that the Skycatcher will meet all ASTM Consensus Standards. In fact, we’ll exceed them as Cessna plans to conduct full fatigue testing on the Skycatcher, above and beyond ASTM standards. It’s what we do to keep your flying experience a safe and enjoyable one.
To make your landings as smooth as your takeoffs, the Skycatcher's main landing gear uses high-strength, tapered steel tubes to provide shock absorption, whether your touchdown is on improved or unimproved runways.
The Skycatcher wing incorporates a custom designed airfoil for a smooth ride. The wing structure uses a two spar design with a strut that attaches to the forward spar. Slotted flaps are used to further lower the stall speed.
